Farmers should swath rape and mustard when 20 25 percent of pods color. Cut just below bottom pods with high stubble to prevent blowaway. Yellow mustard swath when most of field is ripe. Also notes ergot risk and segregate grain from outer swaths to avoid infestation.
The Birdtail River School Division Board met at Shoal Lake on August 14 1969. Items include approving minutes, accepting correspondence, awarding bus gasoline tenders to Twin Valley Strathclair and Hamiota co opts for Sept 1 1969 to Aug 31 1970, and adopting the superintendent report. The board lists numerous school bus routes with driver names and monthly payments for St Lazare Foxwarren Birtle Shoal Lake Newdale Miniota Crandall Hamiota and other routes.
Manitoba Centennial Corporation plans a July 20 1970 celebration at the International Peace Garden to mark the first moon landing anniversary. President Nixon and Apollo 11 astronauts Armstrong Aldrin Collins are invited, with Good Neighbour Day planned. A regional meeting at Peace Gardens will include Phillip Peterson and Maitland Steinkopf, discussing programs south of Souris toward the US border.
