Soil Testing Program Shows Early Success and Expansion
The soil testing program begun a year ago reports early positive results with farmers noting satisfaction in 1963 and 1964 tests. A major breakthrough in fertilizer recommendations appears likely, and sampling can begin after September 15 for 1965 cereal crops or now for forage crops. The laboratory operates on a first come first served basis, with tests starting as samples are received.
Soil Testing Kits and Demonstrations Planned for Fertilizer Use
The pamphlet explains that soil testing kits with information sheets will be available at Elevators or the Agricultural Office. A Soil Testing Demonstration Day is not planned this fall unless requested, with six demonstrations held last year. The $9.00 soil test is recommended as fertilizer use grows in the country, and results should be observed.
Vacation Bible School Held in Miniota United Church
A Vacation Bible School ran August 17 to 21 at Miniota United Church directed by Don McKay Winnipeg Mary Lou Moore Emerson and Lorne Erikso Fort William. Enrollment reached 53 with teachers and assistants for Kindergarten Primary led by Moore. Closing exercises August 21 featured McKay assisted by Moore and Krisko. $12 total offering.

Henry Stowe Dies After Ill Health At 70s
Henry Stowe died Monday at Birtle Hospital after a period of failing health following a heart attack. He was 70s and had lived on the home farm except for World War I service. Survived by wife Ethel Leary, daughter Erma, four granddaughters, one sister Edna, and a Winnipeg niece. Funeral in Miniota United Church with service by Rev. J Sloan. burial at Miniota cemetery.
