Ice Capades Brings New Acts to Brandon Stage

Ice Capades opens at Keystone Centre in Brandon for three performances on Monday November 3 and Tuesday November 4. Stinkweed and Flixweed Fight in Fall Spraying Advice

Agriculture Canada urges fall control of stinkweed and flixweed on summer fallow and crop land. Late October spraying with 2 4 0 ester at four to six ounces per acre is recommended to kill late germinating weeds and ease spring work. Fall cultivation is less effective and riskier for erosion. killing in fall can delay first summer fallow until June.

Health Centre News Disaster Exercise In Hamiota

A planned disaster drill at Hamiota Collegiate simulated an explosion causing extensive damage. Eleven students suffered serious injuries and four minor, with fire department, hospital, and RCMP assistance mobilized. Volunteers and residents provided transport aid. fifteen victims were moved within thirty-two minutes.

Tree Harvest in Full Swing at PFRA Nursery

Six million deciduous trees are being harvested at the PFRA Tree Nursery in Indian Head Saskatchewan. Two and a half million caragana are being heeled in for winter with 700,000 ash and 190,000 maple stored. Russian olive and Siberian elm will follow caragana, then spring lifting and shipment to Manitoba and Saskatchewan farmers for shelterbelt use. First come first served for conifer species.

Park Residence notes visitors including Mr and Mrs Walter Goven lock Neepawa at Mr Bill Philips home last week and Mrs F Collie’s Ontario trip return. Mrs S Stewart visiting Brandon guest of Mrs Harry Stewart. Mrs Einar Egelsson of Ottawa Ontario visited her mother Mrs W Campbell. Sympathy extended to Mrs A Irvine on Mr Irvine's passing at Virden Nursing Home October 17. Mrs D Sutherland and Mr J Gunson traveled to Rivers for dinner with Miss Edith Gunson at Mr Pearce’s home then returned home in the evening. Mrs L Wisner attended St David’s Church anniversary service October 19.
