Ice Capades opens at Keystone Centre in Brandon for three performances on Monday November 3 and Tuesday November 4. A planned disaster drill at Hamiota Collegiate simulated an explosion causing extensive damage. Eleven students suffered serious injuries and four minor, with fire department, hospital, and RCMP assistance mobilized. Volunteers and residents provided transport aid. fifteen victims were moved within thirty-two minutes.

Tree Harvest in Full Swing at PFRA Nursery
Six million deciduous trees are being harvested at the PFRA Tree Nursery in Indian Head Saskatchewan. Two and a half million caragana are being heeled in for winter with 700,000 ash and 190,000 maple stored. Russian olive and Siberian elm will follow caragana, then spring lifting and shipment to Manitoba and Saskatchewan farmers for shelterbelt use. First come first served for conifer species.
