New IGA Store Opens in Hamiota on Maple Ave
HAMIOTA Don Mennie and company opened a new IGA Super Market on Maple Ave last Tuesday moving from the Jamieson site. The store is bright and well stocked with a wide variety of foods. Grandma Arthur and Dorothy Strong coordinated the first order, Bill Miller was the first customer served, and staff thanked the many helpers who moved the shop. Free coffee and doughnuts greeted shoppers for two days. Manager Don Mennie praised the local community in his remarks.

Mrs Barnes left last Friday for Flin Flon for a two week visit. Mrs W Campbell spent the long weekend with Mr and Mrs Frank Campbell at Roblin and attended her grandson Bob Campbell’s Grade 12 graduation. Visitors at Mrs Robertson’s included Mr and Mrs Jack Clifford of Napinka and Mr and Mrs Melvin Clifford of Toronto. E Baldwin drove with her son Bert and family to Virden for Thanksgiving with Mrs Bessie Whyte. Miss Jean Morice of Penpeg visited her mother Mrs Joe over the weekend. Mrs D Sutherland wed to Winnipeg Monday with Jean for a trip to Ottawa and Toronto. Mrs R Clegg from Arrow River visited Mrs Sutherland last week. Mr Fraser Smith of Flin Flon called on his mother Mrs A Smith and later with Mr and Mrs Jim Smith and Craig. Event services have been rescheduled. The first service on October 7 was conducted by Rev L Jameson. Visitors welcome. Hymns and singing at 8 p.m. Thursdays.
