Farm Notes outlines soil test fee discounts and field counts
Effective September 27, 1971 the Minister of Agriculture approved a volume discount for soil test fees. Three or fewer fields per client cost $6 per field, four or more fields $5 per field, with nitrogen tests at $4 per field. The price per field is set per shipment, and industry reps must list each client and field count with every shipment. Canada offers first public sale of top quality boars October 21 in Brandon with screening for fitness and performance. up to 30 of 70 tested boars may be selected across five breeds Chester White Duroc Hampshire Lacombe and Yorkshire.

School Corner reveals Junior High Student Council results
On Friday September 24 the Junior High elected council executives after a lively campaign. Sheila Bryant was elected president with Irene Horner as vice president. Doreen Kelly won secretary over Susan Nash. Brian Kayes defeated Lauree McKenzie and Yvonne Rowan for treasurer. Grade level and sport reps named. upcoming boys soccer vs Birtle and girls volleyball vs St Lazare on October 5. Foxwarren defeated Miniota 11 to 0 in a prior match. Glen Wadham missed a late tying penalty as the goalie stood tall.

The Birdtail River School Division No. 38 held a regular meeting September 30 1971 with trustees present and approved multiple operations. Actions include adjusting bus routes 68 83 102 2 107 9. adding and increasing driver pay. approving roof replacement payments to T S Kitcher Ltd and Transcona Roofing Co. approving architectural fees for Hamiota and St Lazare. changing order 14 for Birtle Collegiate. hiring aides for several schools and hiring teachers for 1971 72 with specified salary details. The minutes from September 9 were adopted and correspondence and the superintendent report noted.
