Miniola School Board approves route changes and staff salaries

Miniola Manitoba board met at Municipal Hall with most members present. They adopted August minutes, approved various transport rate adjustments to Beulah Isabella and Miniota routes, set school opening times for December to February, approved teacher salaries, advertised for fuel oil and planned a social evening for teachers. Directors for Birdtail River Fine Arts Festival were named. Meeting adjourned.

Saskatchewan wildlife director questions gun accident deaths

Saskatchewan Wildlife Director Ernie Paynter cites 104 gun accident deaths last year with 14 fatalities and notes 79 total fatalities since 1951. He asks if using 10,565 cubic feet of good soil per burial is good land use.

Port Coquitlam Bride Weds In Autumn Church Ceremony

Janice Farrell and Lyndley Charles Smith unite in marriage at Home Street United Church in Port Coquitlam. The bride wore a floor length taffetta gown with sequins and seed pearls, and the couple plans to reside in Winnipeg after a short honeymoon. Miniota 4-H Calf Club Reorganizes

The Miniota 4-H Beef Calf Club reorganized on October 2 with 15 members led by Mr. J. Hanlin and assistant Mr. M. Peel. Officers elected include President Bob Walker Vice president Ken Peel Secretary Vicki Leland Treasurer Kathy Hanlin Reporter Dale Kostak. A test was written and money making plans discussed. Next meeting set for Now 6th in the elementary school.

Miniota Community Centre Board Plans Busy Season

The Miniota Community Centre board met to outline upcoming events including a monster Bingo in late November and an October 13 event. They also scheduled a bee on October 10 to clean the centre and a rink maintenance date, with a decision soon on building a fourth ice sheet for which $629 was subscribed.

A канdied bride elect Miss Phyllis Sparks received a miscellaneous shower at the Miniota Community Centre on Saturday. Mrs. Robert Jolley read an address to the honoree after a social period. Gifts were given by Iris Lelond Heather Spalding Linda Lelond Bever ley Bryant Linda Mossop and Helen Long. Iris Lelond was named Student Council president at the local high school in a three way election with Elinor Armitage as vice president. Other officers include Linda Lelond secretary treasurer Lois Lelond social convenor John Mitchell sports convenor. Grade nine Kevin Leland Grade ten Nelson Kenward Grade eleven Diane Williams Grade twelve Helen Long serve as class representatives.
