Mr and Mrs Shappert left on holidays for southern Manitoba and the U S A.

Betty Louise Johnson Tops Awards at Birdtail River Graduation
Betty Louise Johnson won the Aggregate award at the Birdtail River School Division No. 38 graduation held in Kenton on October 7. Ninety graduates were acknowledged with diplomas presented by Mr. Fulton, and the event featured several subject awards and a guest speech by the Minister of Public Works John Thompson. Eight graduates were absent, and a $50 Aggregate prize was given to Miss Johnson by Mr. Morris.

A record attendance of 604 gathered in Brandon from September 29 to October 1 for a semi annual Jehovahs Witnesses convention. The event featured a Sunday talk by A M Didur on Bible prophecy and included eight new ministers baptized at the Brandon Kingdom Hall. The delegates praised local officials and Brandon’s hospitality as they prepared to return to their Southwestern Manitoba congregations.

Crandall Couple Marries In Autumn Church Ceremony
Glenda Maureen Smith and Garry Van Buskirk wed October 7 1961 at Crandall United Church in a double ring ceremony. The bride wore a silk organza gown with lily of the valley accents and a four tier veil. The reception followed at Crandall school auditorium with 105 guests from multiple Manitoba Saskatchewan towns. The couple planned a brief honeymoon to Minot North Dakota and will live in Brandon at 530 11th Street.
