A vintage flyer from United States Ltd promotes Christmas groceries and assorted items at money saving prices. The Miniota notice touts crisp new merchandise including candies nuts and related seasonal foods from the Weean Supply line.
A letter to town and village councils explains a gift of power for Christmas and New Year festoon lighting. It urges communities to brighten their towns with colored lights and expresses goodwill from the Manitoba Power Commission to all municipalities on its system. It suggests villages may accept the offer of free energy for holiday lighting.
Ed Spalding visited Winnipeg last week. Mrs. J. H. McIntosh visits Hamiota this week. Two phone numbers added to the list: W. Yarwood S9 and Bert Hawes 9-4 Rev. Earl 8. Mrs. Dixon of Elkhorn visited friends Saturday. R. M. Oliver attended a Manitoba Command Canadian Legion executive council meeting in Winnipeg.
Mr and Mrs Walter Long of Stoughton Sack visited Crandall district last week. Walter notes crop failure in that district and more snow in Winnipeg area. He arrived in Winnipeg sixty years ago from Ontario, now living as a patient in Miniota hospital and progressing fairly well.
The W M S met last Thursday afternoon at Mrs G A McMillan's home. The regular program was followed with the first chapter of the study book reviewed. Officers will stay the same for the coming year. A dainty lunch was served and social chat enjoyed.
The W.A. met at Mrs. H. N. Spencer's home with Mrs. Oliver presiding. Committees reported a successful year and plans were made for a bazaar on Dec. 3. Officers elected include Pres. Mrs. Ellerington Vice-pres. Mrs. Oliver Sec. and Sick convenor Mrs. Henderson Treas. Mrs. Leam Dorcas See. Mrs. JH. Spencer Little Helpers See. Mrs. Ivatts.
At Minnedosa assize court Harry Miller of Isabella faced trial. After eighteen hours the six man jury failed to reach a verdict and Judge Adamson ordered a new trial to begin Monday. Thirteen witnesses testified for prosecution, none for defence, in the case linked to the April 27 accident near Isabella that killed Eileen Clark.
