Seed grain buying and cleaning timelines due to quotas by the Canadian Wheat Board. A 400 bushel over quota limit for commercial grain applies this year. United Church and Anglican Church of Canada presbyteries met at Central United Church Brandon on November 18 to study Union. Dr. R B Craig and Bishop T W Wilkinson spoke on church union and the four level organizational plan. Bishop Wilkinson explained bishop meaning servant of God and discussed governance in the proposed union church. The session featured Anglican and United Church laity and clergy discussions with plans for future worship continuity.
The Birdtail River School Division No 38 board met at Crandall Thursby in November 1970 with Trustees present. Motions adopted include approving November minutes and correspondence, transferring banking to Royal Bank at Hamiota, adjusting Route No 83 pay, adding Route No 55A, approving $2500 site improvements at Birtle Collegiate, and adjourning to December 3 1970.
Manitoba Industry and Commerce Minister Len Evans urged national publishing houses to locate in Manitoba to preserve Canadian identity while building a major printing, publishing, and graphic arts hub. He outlined incentives, potential equity participation, and a bilingual business climate to support viable textbook publishing and other activities.
Mrs Lillian Ramnes of Plenty Sask and Mrs Lorne Dale called on Mr Gunson last week. Miss Jean Morrice of Winnipeg spent the weekend with her mother. Mr and Mrs Delbridge with Mrs Gardham spent the weekend in Brandon with their daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Church. Mrs Gardham visited Mrs Mabel Attwood. Mr and Mrs English of Nedale visited Mrs Hill. Bert and family and Mr and Mrs Doug Longstaff of Cardale visited Mrs Baldwin Saturday. Miss Lorna Roberts of Kenton visited Mrs Smith. Nelson Kreager and Wayne Robertson visited Mrs Robertson Sunday. Missionary Miss Watson spoke on her work Sunday evening in the lounge. The Gardhams and family of Arrow River visited last week.
