Second Series Hearings On Federal Agriculture Task Force

Manitoba Agriculture committee will hold open meetings to hear briefs on federal task force recommendations and farm machinery dealer relations in Manitoba. The Ham iota area meeting is in Brandon on December 15 at the Agricultural Extension Centre. Also an Estate Planning meeting in Hamiota on December 8 discusses wills, asset transfer, taxes, and family preservation.

Arctic Explorer Ralph Plaisted Defines SnowmobilingPioneer

Ralph Plaisted, St Paul insurance man and avid snowmobiler, led a six man 1968 Polar expedition using 16 hp Ski Doos to reach the geographic North Pole on snowmobiles. The feat, confirmed by U S Air Force navigators, marked the first motorized and first external-validated surface North Pole reach since 1909. Plaisted plans a series of columns on snowmobiling for this newspaper.

Hamiota Ladies Aid District Meet Recaps 1970

The Hamiota Hospital District No. 7A Ladies Aid met in the Community room on Friday November 27 1970 with eleven districts represented. The treasurer reported 1484 54 in the bank and blood and laundry usage for October were noted. A blood clinic is planned for Shoal Lake December 9 and the next meeting is January 22 1971. New officers for 1971 include President Mrs A Wiltsey and Past President Mrs W Hedley.

Mr Gunson and Mrs F Morris and Mrs Bardwell are patients in hospital. Wishing them a speedy recovery. Oak Lake residents Art Boys and Mr and Mrs Lorne Boys visited Mrs Henderson on Sunday. Mrs Stewart returned home after a month with relatives in Alberta. Hemphill spent weeks with son in law and daughter at Glenboro. H Gardham of Arrow River and M Carnegie of Flin Flon visited Mrs Gardham last week. Elton Emerson of Rivers visited his parents on Sunday.
