Manitoba to scrap Assigned Risk Plan for auto insurance

Manitoba will discontinue the assigned risk plan next year replacing it with industry undertakings to insure all drivers through normal channels. Those with driving records may face only the statutory minimum limits of 35000 liability and 250 deductible collision, with premium surcharges for violations and accidents removed stigma.

Alfred J. Gray Dies Suddenly at 65 in Winnipeg

Alfred J. Gray, 65, of 28 Camelot Apts Assiniboine Ave, Winnipeg, died November 8 1967 at Winnipeg General Hospital. Survived by wife Marie. funeral November 10 at Clark Leatherdale Funeral Home with interment at Chapel Lawn. He came to Winnipeg in 1926, taught at Success Business College and Angus School of Commerce, later area manager for the Dale Carnegie Course. survived by Harvey and others.

Sod Turning Marks New Distillery in Manitoba

A $4 million Manitoba distillery project near Minnedosa broke ground with a sod turning ceremony on November 18. Canada’s Manitoba Distillery Limited plans a staged build starting with a $2.5 million production building and warehouse, employing 20 to 30 workers in phase one, with future expansion. The plant aims to produce bulk spirits for export to the United States on a 57 acre site, with completion of phase one expected next summer and about 80 workers during construction.
