Farm Progress Days to Showcase Livestock Materials Handling

Manitoba farmers can view the latest in manure handling, water systems, feed mixers and conveyors at Farm Progress Days in Brandon November 16 to 21. Lectures by E P Hudek and E T Oatway of the Manitoba Department of Agriculture and Conservation accompany daily programs starting 9:30 am with admission of one dollar and includes lunch.

Progressive Conservative Manitoba Convention 1964 Set for Winnipeg

Delegates from Manitoba constituencies will attend a three day 1964 convention at the Marlborough Hotel in Winnipeg November 12 to 14. Highlights include addresses by Premier Duff Roblin and John G. Diefenbaker, a Women’s Association luncheon, YPC banquet, and a 75th birthday event for the Greater Winnipeg Conservative Club.

Miss Maxine Walker teaches at Bran don Teacher's College and practices at home. Students Sharon Henderson Marilee Hyndman and Lois Johnston competed in the Miniota Oratorical Contest. Bob Taylor and Bob Hirst were Crandall spelling contestants with Taylor taking second and aiming for the Division finals. Local families visited for Halloween with Graham Elliot and Tari Johnston among others.

The Beulah United Church Women and Beulah W I held meetings on October 8 and November 4 with reports on hospital aid and local fundraising. Activities included donations to the Myrtle Rose Bursary and Peace Garden Nook, a Pennies for Friendship box, and plans for a lunch fundraiser, annual tea, bake sale, and church basement lunch tables. Mr. F Cooper sent $155 to Children's Aid. last year’s gift was $129.

Ward Finals at Miniota Collegiate Spelling and Oratorical

The ward finals in Miniota College featured participants from Isabella Beulah Crandall and Miniota. Judy Hatcock of Beulah won spelling with Bob Taylor Crandall as runner up. Dale Leland Miniota won oratory with Wilda Lockhart Miniota second. Dale spoke on Moral Break Down in the Modern World. Wilda spoke on Muscular Dystrophy. Dale also won the impromptu speech contest judged by Rev Pilling of Virden.

Miniota Girls Sweep Volley Ball Streak in Posts

In Birtle on October 21 the boys won four straight with Cran dall and Strathclair, while Shoal Lake visited Miniota on November 2 with the girls taking two of three. An exhibition saw Elkhorn girls prevail. Miniota girls then won four straight.
