Major Swine Meet in Brandon Sets November Conference

The Manitoba Swine Improvement Council launches its first project with an open conference on November 10 at the Agricultural Extension Center in Brandon. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Speakers include Minister George Hutton, J J Wilkinson, and Dr W T Combs with topics on lean pork, cross breeding, and Canadian grading standards. The afternoon features three workshops on nutrition, breeding, and disease led by experts and producers, with multiple concurrent sessions coordinated by D S Stevenson, Abe Riediger, and Dr Marvin Seale.

Arrow River 4 H Club Reorganized at Arrow River School

The Arrow River B Thrifty 4 H Club reorganized at Arrow River School on September 24 with pledge and officer reports. Membership is twelve with new officers Secretary Maureen Lelond President Sheila Lelond Vice-President Sharon Lelond Treasurer Barbara Lelond Reporter Wilda Lockhart. The second meeting at Arrow River School on October 8 had full attendance, pledge, and reports followed by a discussion on new uniforms.

Foxwar ren School div adopts grade cut and moves transport

Birdtail River School Division No 38 holds regular meeting. Inspector Funk present. The board adopts minutes from October 1 and 3. They decide to discontinue Grade XII at Foxwarren Secondary after October 9 1964 and ban Grade XII attendance there. Grade XIII students will be transported to Birtle Collegiate with temporary transport arranged and bids sought for permanent service. The meeting adjourns to October 29 1964 at 8 p.m.

Birdtail River Division 38 Holds Shoal Lake Graduation

Graduation exercises of Birdtail River School Division No 38 took place at the Shoal Lake School Auditorium on October 24 with sixty six graduates presented by Mr. Funk. Miniota Collegiate graduates included Linda Armitage Diane Williams Joan Leland Clifford Clark Bill Clark Maurice Currie and Garth Powell. It marked the fifth division graduation in Manitoba and noted 217 graduates and three Isbister Scholarship winners with Hwa Cheng of Birtle winning the aggregate award.

Webber 25th Wedding Anniversary Observed by Family

Mr and Mrs N Webber celebrated 25 years of marriage on October 26 at a family dinner with 37 relatives present. Daughters organized the event, awards were given for several exams and scholarships, and guest speaker Professor N E Spence of Brandon College discussed social changes and human behavior before a reception.
