Municipal council in Man. adopts September 1964 general and court of revision minutes. Various letters received on road openings, health clinics, rail crossings, sewage, and bylaw amendments. Appeals from J Larson, Ed Lewis, Laura Clark, J Czubaty sustained or reduced. 1964 roll revised for 1965. bylaw 1481 and 1482 read and passed with council attendance urged for Minnedosa meeting.
Council reads bylaws 1474 through 1484 for third time and approves. It seeks Board of Transport Commissioners authority for Canadian Railway Co to widen crossing 17.1 on Neudorf Subdivision and orders repairs. Pending tenders, mortgage and housing approvals, contracts to J S Quinn Construction Co. and checks 12025 to 12092 totaling 55 053.94 are approved before adjournment.
The federal government approves an 8 667 loan to Rural Municipality of Maniota Manitoba under the National Housing Act. The 20 year loan at 5 3/8 percent finances 1 100 feet of sewer and a stabilization pond with a project cost of 13 000. For work done before March 31 1967 CMHC may forgive 25 percent of principal and 25 percent of accrued interest.
The Children's Aid Society of Western Manitoba thanks Miniota and district residents for backing the Women's Institute sale and tea. Mrs A McKean, local representative to the Board of Directors, helped organize the event. The project was very successful and the society looks forward to continuing service to the community.
District Happenings lists residents visiting Winnipeg Toronto and Punnichy and reports new arrivals in the Webber residence and D Richardson move. UNICEF collection boxes appear in local stores and several groups meet for UCW rallies 4 H clubs plan events while school activities include a student candy sale to buy a record player.
The Birtle Presbyterial held the U C W Fall Rally at Beulah United Church on Thursday October 22 with good attendance. A highlight was a slide lecture on India by Miss V Boyd LRN of India and other guest speakers.
Doreen Sparks works at the Royal Bank. The turkey shoot netted 433 dollars. John and Mrs. Mohr of Winnipeg visited Len Bryant’s. Quinn Construction started sewer work. Tom Burt and family of Rose Town visited. Andrushuk’s father died. the community extends sympathy. Several residents traveled or hosted events, and local fundraisers and meetings were held.
Isabella community reports visitors from Port Alberni and Dauphin, with trips to Regina and Bran don for leadership courses. Anniversary services will honor Dr Mac Watts of Winnipeg. Mrs Glen Doran of Birtle is mourned. Ladies attend a UCW Rally at Beulah. clergy include Rev H Harland and Rev J Sloan.
At a Community Centre meeting plans were made for a Cash Bingo and a Turkey Raffle on the evening of November 20. The Curling Rocks will not be sold.
