Victoria Day at Happyland Hosts Local Football Day

Victoria Day drew townsfolk to Happyland for football and a supper by Mr. Fisher. Rustlers beat Mites two goals to none, Arrow River won 3 0 over Two Creeks, Miniota edged Rose Lea for third place 2 0, and a late dance with Roy Faulconer capped the day despite poor field conditions.

Pulpit and Pew Services Next Sunday at Two Churches

Citizens met Monday at 3 to discuss annual sports dates at Hawthorne’s Hall. Mrs Gilmour and daughter Jenne of Glasgow are visiting Thomas Kerr. Mrs Gilmour is Kerr’s sister. Born to Mr and Mrs W McKenzie a son on Sunday May 22. Mr and Mrs R F Lang and family leave for Lethbridge Alta to reside. El Pazo, Ross’s fast horse, placed third in the 2.25 pace at Brandon races on Victoria Day.

Service for King Edward Acknowledges Citizens and Societies

A Friday funeral procession in Lurg attracted Citizens Dragoons and Societies. Dragoons led by J T Evans formed a dignified carriage with about 25 men. The parade passed the school and post office to the hall for memorial service led by Mr Beatty, with Alf Duffield’s choir. The Last Post closed the tribute as the ranks dispersed.

Jimmy Conover returned from Yorkton Tuesday. A copy of the first annual report of the Commission of Conservation at Ottawa was received this week.
