Rural Council Meeting Deliberates on Grants and Infrastructur

The Turvers hall session on May 4 chaired by the reeve saw full council attendance. Decisions include purchasing an 8 horse powered grader for about 5000 with one year free repairs, extending telephone service, and coordinating cross‑ward bridge inspection.

Funeral of King Ed Ward to be held Friday

Proclamation by the Secretary of State for Canada declares Friday May 20 a mourning public holiday across the district. Miniota joins the request with stores closed all day. A memory procession starts at 2 30 from the body room to the school then to the hall for a service honoring King Edward VII.

Local Notes From Arrow River and Brandon

Mrs Jas Wiggins visits Brandon to see her daughter Butch at college. Miss Watt and Cecil were in Hamiota on Saturday. A large crowd watched the Rustlers versus Black's eleven with no score recorded. Fred Bradford, nephew of A.M. Bradford, arrived from abroad. W Leland visited Hamwiota last Tuesday.

World Sunday School Day Observed at Miniota Church

The Union Sunday Schools of Miniota plan World Sunday School Day at the Presbyterian Church next Sunday at 2 30 p m with rehearsals of the service. A Metro service follows at 7 39 p m. Ministers are urged to preach on the role of Sunday schools in character development and to pray for blessings on Sunday schools worldwide and the World Sunday School Convention in Washington.

A well attended Union Sunday school meeting at the Presbyterian basement discussed denominational support and the potential introduction of a denominational school if Union efforts fail.
