Manitoba anglers face new rules for licences and spearfishing
Manitoba's Department of Mines and Natural Resources unveils new sport fishing regulations. Licence fees rise for non residents while a three day non resident option exists. Year round seasons apply north of the 53rd parallel with sturgeon limits and trout waters schedules. Spearfishing is allowed with strict gear limits and requires a free permit for those over 16. Bow and arrow fishing gains a defined season and a free permit.

Mrs John Morrice hosted granddaughter Katherine Ann Black from Nova Scotia on a summer work trip after graduation from Mount Allison University. Hospital Institute Report At Shoal Lake May Meeting
A one day Institute at Shoal Lake Hospital covered orientation in service education programs job descriptions and hour scheduling for small hospitals. Nursing consultant Sister Beatrice Wambeke aided by Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses led the program with strong attendance from several neighboring hospitals. Hamiiota District Hospital staff attended with Carol Wilson Margaret Sangster Kay Caldwell and M G Hadland. The Tea and Bazaar raised 280 toward an ice machine. Winners included Mrs Bernie Strachan Winnipeg for a four person dinner hamper and Mrs Gerry Steski of Winnipeg for a furnished doll house. A May 12 and 13 institute in Hamiota for area nurses featured instructors Mildred Herman and Fay Corrigan with Dr Lambert as guest speaker. 26 and 29 nurses attended Monday and Tuesday respectively.

W I Meeting Guest Speaker Highlights May 8
Mrs J E Fink Beiner of Isabella spoke at the W I meeting at Mrs P N Gow s home on May 8 showing films from the Women s World Wide Conference in Lansing. Delegates were chosen for the District Convention at Hamiota and plans were made for hospital tea and sale. Mrs Mann and Mrs Gow attended the convention May 13. Mrs Chisholm Gow and Miss Paynter attended the tea and donations were collected from W I members. The W I thanks all who helped with the hospital tea.
