Miniota School Board met May 8 1961 at the Miniota Municipal Office with all members present. Chairman Lorne Wright presided as items covered include resignations transportation changes enrollment reports and plans for a music festival field day and budget approvals with adjournment.
Roy Lelond chaired the annual meeting of the Community Centre on Thursday. W A Barrett reported the secretary treasurer’s finances as committees highlighted shows dances sports and ice rink plans funded by donations. A new board and officers were elected with Gordon Long as chairman and Russell Lel and others filling committee roles. Committees include grounds entertainment films rink and auditors with thanks given to the Potato Club and Merry Stitchers Sewing Club for donations.
The Mission Band and Junior Red Cross hosted their annual bazaar in the school auditorium on Friday afternoon led by Mrs L Irwin Mrs K Clark and Mrs R E Heise for the Mission Band and Mrs S rwinn and Miss Donnalene McLaughlin for the Junior Red Cross A fish pond and multiple pupil run booths drew crowds A silver tea complemented the event with net proceeds of 80 60 Freddie Apperly held the lucky ticket for the Electric blanket sponsored by the Junior Red Cross.

Beulah Community Hall hosted an evening event May 1 as the 4-H Flying Needle Clothing Club presented projects one through five with many Red Ribbons and five year leader plaques. Members received pins for best made articles and five year service. demonstrations, talks, fashion parade and square dancing enriched the program.
Voters in Birdtail River School Division No 38 turn out 46 percent to support a Money By-Law for building new schools at Birtle Hamiota Strathclair and renovating Shoal Lake. Of ballots cast 70.3 percent vote yes and 29.7 percent vote no.
Miniota 4-H Sewing Club Achievement Night in the community centre featured president Diane Williams presiding. Members received pins and five-year certificates. demonstrations included The Added Touch and Color Capers. awards honored Brenda Curry Beverley Bryant and others. Wendy Currie, Cathy Hanlin, and Diane Williams highlighted.
A congregational meeting at the Isabella Charge was led by Rev. C Geddes. It discussed the United Church of Canada's new curriculum and the first publication The Christian Home with other works to follow. Members urged teamwork to fulfill Christian promises, and lunch was served after.
M'Niota W I meet at the Miniota Community Centre with guest speaker Mrs I Wood of Oak River who spoke on life in Trinidad her mission work there and racial prejudice amid political stirring. The meeting approved delegates to district and provincial conventions and raised funds for charities.
Forty members attended the Miniota Consumers Cooperative Limited annual meeting where President J A Frazer presented the Directors Report. Highlights included a 5 percent shareholder equity refund, $550 estate equity payout, asets over $74 million, and record 1960 sales with net income of $9,907. Directors Keith Armitage and Robert Bonner were elected for three years.
The May gathering of the W I was hosted by Mrs T Rittaler with Mrs J Coxworth leading. Delegates to district and provincial conventions were named and guest speaker Mrs W Fulton spoke on Canada’s Food Rules. A Homemaking School report by Mrs R E Heise highlighted courses in interior design and nutrition.
