Open Letter to Farmers on Seed Cleaning Plant
A farmers steering committee urges building a community seed cleaning plant near Shoal Lake to improve grain quality. The 1965 Manitoba survey shows 46.6 percent seed rejection due to weed content, and 82.7 percent cleaned at co ops graded No 1 or 2. The plan, valued at 60 000 dollars, seeks 30 000 dollar provincial loan and 30 900 dollar share capital. Members appeal for farmer support within 20 to 30 miles, with June 15 1967 as possible cheque cashing date and shareholders meeting if funding succeeds.
