Community Centre Reports at Annual Meeting
The Community Centre held its annual meeting on Thursday May 11 reporting a busy year with the rink nearly complete at 41431.20 cost and a 10000 bank loan. Receipts totaled 4911.42 against expenses 4680.40. The rink saw 18 curling rinks 5 hockey teams and other events. The board approved continued film shows and discussed a potential dam project on Eric Hurlin’s farm for a future resort. The former bank building will be sold by tender and the board expanded to eleven with new members Betty Joseph Betty Preston Pat Daies and Bob Martin joining existing directors.

Holy Trinity ACW Holds Meeting in Miniota
Holy Trinity A C W met with nine members and one visitor present. Delegates were named for the Deanery meeting in Birtle on June 1. A May donation to Ho Yu Ming was approved and April’s bank balance reported at $101.47. A bake sale netted $102.75 on May 6. Members wore Centennial dresses. lunch followed. Next meeting set for June 19 at Mrs. Argue’s home.

Miniota 4H Beef Club met at the Elementary School on May 9 with 18 members present. The meeting opened with the Pledge, minutes were read and adopted, and the treasurer reported 211.61 dollars. Mrs. M. Laon attended as leader. Centennial project discussed. meeting adjourned.

Miniota Clean Up Campaign Launched
Miniota and District Chamber of Commerce sponsor a Clean Up Miniota Campaign running now through May 24. After a heavy snow delayed the April cleanup, spring weather aims to spur residents to tidy boulevards vacant lots and properties, assist community and municipal areas, plant trees, and curb fire hazards with help from the Miniota Fire Department as the town joins the Good Roads Competition.

Local Graduation at BranNOes Vocational Centre May 12
Local students and families gathered at Bran Noes Vocational Centre on May 12 for graduation exercises. Certificates and service seals were awarded in Drafting and Electrical Construction to Rick Barrett and others. Ken Bryant will receive his Junior Automotive Counterman certificate by mail. The Hon. Walter Dinsdale MP presented certificates. A reception in the new cafeteria followed.

Former Beulah Boy Wins Schnitzler Scholarship
William Douglas McCulloch is named the fourth recipient of the Schnitzler Foundation Scholarship from Roosevelt Sheridan and Daniels counties. The $500 award, renewable annually, honors academic promise, character, citizenship, and financial need. McCulloch, son of Mr and Mrs Douglas McCulloch, now resides in Scobey Montana.

Crandall 4-H Potato and Garden Club Meets in May
The Crandall 4-H Potato and Garden Club held a regular meeting May 9 in the School Auditorium. Twelve members answered roll call. minutes and the treasurer’s report were adopted. Plans were made for a Social Evening on May 20 at 8:00. Demonstrations were planned by two boys and two girls, with pictures by Mr and Mrs John Whyte of Kenton from their Hawaii trip.

Miniota W I Hold Meeting At Community Centre
Miniota Women’s Institute met May 5 at the Community Centre with sixteen members and eight visitors present. Roll call referenced a prominent woman and her country. Mrs Rowan reported a Centennial service in Hamiota on Sunday July 9 with massed choir. An art demonstration by Mrs Randall and Mrs Perimut ter from Hamiota featured charcoal, caseine, and oil works and a beginner drawing book.
