District Happenings Provide Socials and Visits
Beulah Community Hall hosted a square dance and box social Friday with Bruce Medd auctioning boxes raising 30 dollars for hospital funds. Visitors from WaWa Ontario came to see a Brandon hospital patient. Jam boree planned for Virden on April 27 and Beulah 4H held a Bonspiel with five rinks. Carol Ann Gies skip led the winning team and B Thrifty sewing club won the mental health cup.

A baby was born to Mr and Mrs Baynton at Maternity Pavilion Brandon General Hospital on March 20. Royal Bank Managers Conference attended by F E Arksey and G E Goodmanson in Brandon. Miniota Talent Night drew crowds with winners led by Miniota Ensemble and local pols. Girls basketball beat Kenton 29 7 while boys lost 28 25. Various visits and social events across Miniota Langruth and surrounding communities. Coffee and donuts capped the Talent Night.

Pilgrimage to Holland A Legion led effort for next of kin
The War Graves Committee has asked The Royal Canadian Legion to arrange Canada based pilgrimages for next of kin of servicemen buried in Holland. A chartered Montreal to Holland flight would cost $150 per person after a $50 subsidy, with ten days lodging meals and transport on Holland. References to administration and publicity follow.

U. C. W. Evening Unit Hosts Meeting With Guest Speaker

Thomas Root Stretton Dies at Beulah in 70th Year
Thomas Root Stretton, aged in his seventies, died Saturday at Deer Lodge hospital. A March 21 funeral at Beulah Anglican Church was led by Rev. Buck. burial followed at Beulah cemetery. A Beulah settler since 1919, he worked east of Beulah then as CN railroad section man until retirement seven years ago. He is survived by daughter Megan Green of Douglas and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were W. Pierce, T. Derlago, J. Maduke, J. Edmundson, G. Heyhoe and F. Paynter.
