Local District Happenings Bright with Hockey and Club Events
District residents report a weekend of sports and community activity. The Girls Hockey Tournament drew six teams including Birtle McConnell Strathclair Antler School Crandall Indian School and Crandall. A Crandall 4H bonspiel crowned winners Barry Angus Diane Williams Jim Ridley. Beulah and Solsgirth competed in a Beulah hosted hockey tournament with Beulah winning multiple age groups. Community notes thank local supporters and announce a March of Dimes donation from Crandall Club and World Day of Prayer services.

Beulah Beulah area activities and meetings update
Beulah community notes report the Miniota Branch Royal Canadian Legion meeting on March 8 at Beulah Hall with President R Schoch, secretary treasurer E Barnes reading minutes, followed by lunch and social time. Also noted are Warren Bear named Birdtail Reserve chief, a 12 and under hockey win at Arrow River, Kiwanis 4H speaking contest on March 14 with ten contestants, and a Beulah United Church Women variety concert and bake sale chaired by Rev Geddes.

The Miniota United Church Women held two meetings with ten and twenty two members present. Discussions covered Lent discipline, youth in transition, a film on youth issues, and a service led by Mrs. Norman Leland and Mrs. Reynolds. A large list of donated prizes and thanks followed the curling bonspiel win by Ken Mitchell rink and appreciation for organizers and caretakers.

Houck Wins First Event in Invi tational Bonspiel Final
Norm Houck edged Bruce Hudson 9 8 in the first event final at the Strathcona Curling Club Winnipeg. Houck rink included Lyle Henry Lynn Chambers and Keith Strachan. Hudson later won the second event final over Ed Shamray of Oak River. Ice was heavy but curlers enjoyed the weekend spiel and showed Winnipeg curlers can handle country ice.

World Day of Prayer Held at Miniota
The World Day of Prayer service at the United Church in Miniota inspired attendees led by Mrs. L. Reynolds and Mrs. R. Howard. Mrs. C. Geddes spoke on “God's Love for the whole world” as Miss Helen Long played organ with the choir. Thirty seven children and two leaders attended. messengers met in the school and the children’s program was used. The combined offering totaled $11.50.
