District Happenings in the Rural Community

District residents attended a De partment of Agriculture welding course in the past week. Congratulations to Barry Scarth and family on the birth of Robert Paul in Burnaby on March 28. Local events include cattle show in Regina, baptisms, and two rounds of Telephone Whist with district winners listed. Community members also attended WI meetings, district board events in Hamiota, and multiple funerals in Welwyn Weyburn Binscarth Minnedosa and surrounding areas.

C Argue Wins Red Cross Bonspiel

The Red Cross Bonspiel concluded with 25 rinks competing. The C Argue rink Iv an Armitage Els ie Mossop and Dorothy Argue went undefeated in a double knockout draw. After expenses, about 110 dollars will be realized for the local Red Cross. The society thanks all contributors for the success.

Blue Bomber star named United College PE director

Ray Jauch longtime Blue Bomber football figure becomes Director of Physical Education at United College effective September 1. The Board of Regents approved the appointment and will fund a plan allowing him to continue playing for the Bombers. Jauch, 22, born in Sublette Illinois, joined the University of Iowa in 1956 and played there four years before joining Winnipeg’s team in 1960.
