The government will guarantee 10 percent of all loans to farmers via banks or credit unions, with a maximum $50,000 guaranteed per borrower. Eligible uses include operating costs, livestock, buildings, equipment, land improvements, and debt consolidation. Loans require collateral such as livestock, machinery, grain, storage, and insurance. If a loan is denied by a lender, farmers can seek a guaranteed line of credit through designated credit agents.
