Local curling and community notes from Miniota area
Weekend visitors from Winnipeg and Wes Lelands return from the south. Forty eight to forty nine rinks entered the Miniota Bonspiel with nine ice sheets as the event nears closure. Snow removal on 83 highway allows farmers to reach town after recent closures. Bruce Kenward leads curling at Miniota, while George Torrance remains hospitalized. The Virden weekly shows Ruby Weber’s rink winning an event. Local meetings include Cockshutt in Brandon and a Bridge session at Mrs Armitage’s with sixteen players. Several residents recover from illness and others visit Winnipeg, with hospital stays noted for Mr Ralph Nash and Mr Alex Cannon in Birtle.
