Malting Barley and Bull Sale Notices in Manitoba

Bonanza malting barley from the 1971 crop will be bought in pure lots by the Canadian industry with Conquest and other malting varieties remaining dominant in purchases. Plant scale trials on 1970 Bonanza showed generally satisfactory results, while Fergus barley from western Canada appears unlikely for commercial malting due to quality comparisons with Betzes. About 210 Manitoba bulls will sell March 31 in Brandon as the 66th Manitoba Cattle Breeders Association Sale, featuring 33 Shorthorns, 33 Aberdeen Angus and 144 Herefords, with a show on March 30 at the Provincial Exhibition Grounds.
