Mrs Reynolds visited Hagniota Mise on Saturday. McLenehan hosted the Girls Bridge Club at Mrs Rollins on Thursday. Miss V Paulson won the prize. After business, thanks were given to Mrs Rollins and Miss McLenehan. Next meeting March 15 hosted by Miss Woods.
Despite poor roads the Horse Shoe Club event drew a good crowd Friday. Twenty six tables remained in play with prizes won by Mrs R M Oliver and Annie Babuck, P S MacPherson and G Walker. After cards the Merrymakers provided music for the dance and lunch was served.
The International Peace Garden project has made progress this season. Work on the garden area near the Canada to Canal Highway will start early in the spring. On Tuesday evening in March at 1745, W V Udall editor of the Boissevain Recorder will speak over CKY about the Peace Garden.
The Minnedosa Tribune reports a set of hospital accounts funded by town and nearby rural municipalities. Councils say no one will be refused care or shamed for unpaid bills, aiming to inform ratepayers about tax money usage. The issue of hospital accounts is growing as a municipal debate.
The Ladies Bridge Club met Thursday at Mrs Forsyths home and mourned the departure of Mrs I Sazaras while receiving a gift toaster and heartfelt address. On Friday Mrs I Sazaraswas guest of honor at an afternoon of bridge hosted by the W I at Mrs P Leams home. An address was read by Mrs A Hanlian and Mrs Sazaras received a china bonbon dish as remembrance.
A circulating petition seeks abolishment of the Assiniboine Game Reserve citing deer poaching and hard times for meat, while noting some residents respect the law and conservation efforts. It laments wildlife feed loss and deer damage on farmland, with farmers and citizens debating the reserve’s fate.
