R. M. Oliver attends the Dominion Convention of the Canadian Legion in Ottawa as delegate from the Miniota branch. For May 1 to May 21, the provincial treasury collected $884,481.07 from Manitoba workers under the tax.
An auction sale of farming stock and related items will be held at Sararas farm just east of Miniota on Wednesday. The sale starts at 10 50 a m.
John Spalding attended the Convention of the Saskatchewan Union of Municipalities in Regina last week as the representative for the Manitoba Union of Municipalities.
Mrs L Jasper hosted a Thursday bridge gathering for four tables of girls. Miss E H MecLenehan won the hush score prize and Miss E Sararas took the consolation prize.
A western man delivering his turkeys to the pool on November 22 left a note inside a bird asking for the purchaser to state the payment due at six cents a pound. A Manchester England dealer who bought the turkey at a shilling per pound replied with the price in local currency.
Mr and Mrs A Spencer entertained the Anglican Y P A with a Whist Drive on a Wednesday evening. Following cards the hostess served lunch and presented prizes to Miss Jean Henderson and Stan Horse. Dancing followed and the meeting closed with singing For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.
The United Y P S held its regular meeting in the church basement on Wednesday with Miss Ballys group in charge. J Rowan led a discussion on Ireland after the devotional period and Misses Lynch and Chipman performed a duet, accompanied by Mise E Lynch. A ping pong tournament crowned Miss EB Kelly and W Woods champions, with Miss M Rowan and L Powell as runners up. Lunch followed and the session closed with the Mizpah Benediction.
