With schools closing for summer and many teachers not returning a series of pleasant events featured presentations and farewells. The dedicated staff depart with best wishes as some marry join the forces or pursue nursing and teaching training. Young people are described as resilient and ready to meet life’s joys and sorrows.
The call for recruits continues with opportunities for active service in Air Force Navy or war work in khaki or overalls. Farmers urged to stay productive while groups under mobilization near 24 year olds are summoned. Women expected to fill clerical waiter and other roles as mobilization orders issue.
Committee plans a Red Cross fundraiser in Mintota on July 16 with tickets sold municipality wide. A prize Aberdeen Angus heifer donated by John Wythe will be awarded for 25 cents, with ticket holders eligible for sports events, a picture show, and a dance. Proceeds aim for $1,500 or more. call 70 72 69 or 32 to sell tickets.
