Mrs G A McMillan departed for Winnipeg for a visit. Harold Forsyth has begun training with the R C A F in Toronto. The W M S plans a meeting Thursday at 3 p m in the United Church parlour.
G Kerfost of Springside Saskatchewan is visiting at the W Hi Yar srood residence.
Mrs st Colby Jeft visited her son George in Flindflon last week, spending time with him and family during the trip.
Owen Salway joins Virden training school ground crew. Mr and Mrs J Stowe plan to attend Brandon Normal graduation exercises this week.
Dr. R K Chalmers is attending a medical convention and health officers meeting in Winnipeg this week, joining regional professionals for discussions and updates on public health and medical practices.
Mrs W Fraser and Mrs J Reynolds returned to Winnipeg on Saturday after spending several weeks in the district.
R. M. Oliver and Ruth attended the Canadian Weekly Newspaper Convention held in Winnipeg last week.
Russell Boyce joins the 18th Reconnaissance Unit while J. Dickey serves with the RC.A.SC and Jack Cook is listed with the R.C.N. The notice records their placements in Allied forces, reflecting wartime manpower notes.
H Mcglintosh will leave shortly for Minnedosa to take the position of accountant in the Royal Bank. During his residence here he engaged in community efforts which were greatly valued. His wife also contributed. The couple is wished well for the future.
Arrangements for a Red Cross sports day in Migiota proceed well on July 36 with the 3rd Artillery Band of 36 players performing under bandmaster Charlie Herald. Tickets include entry plus a chance to win a Purebred Aberdeen Angus heifer in a free draw, weather permitting a strong fundraising outcome is expected.
The annual memorial service took place Sunday evening in Miniota Park under the Canadian Legion, with district clergy led by Lynch as chair. A choir representing local churches performed selections including And did those feet in ancient time and I vow to Thee My Country, with Mrs Lynch at the organ.
The local Legion branch thanks supporters after a Sunday memories service led by guest speaker George Dinsdale M.L.A. of Brandon. The event, founded by bugler J W Horner, raised an offering of 44.95 to aid memorial functions.
The Municipal Hall Miniota hosted a school board meeting with Wm Lindsay chairing. resignations from Helen Tuck Wm H Bradley Eileen Smith Kathleen Etaples E M Mylrea and Keith Calverley were submitted. New hires include Hugh A Johnson Isabella High School 1300 and Gertrude Carefoot Miniota grades 5 8 800 noted. Leave of absence granted for A Cunningham Heyhoe. Schools to close June 25 reopen September 2. Trustees authorized to dispose of unusable wheel vans. Next meeting to be called by the chair.
The United Chugych W.A. hosts a Lawn Supper and Social at the home of Mr and Mrs T G Long in town on Friday evening June 27 from 5 p m Admission is 25 cents.

Olga Alice Townson, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Fr Townson of Arrow River, wed William Edwin Gunson at the Shoal Lake manse on Wednesday June 1 8 at 7 pm with Rev A B Simpson officiating. The bride wore a white sharkskin gown with matching accessories, with her sister Mavis as attendant and Lloyd Mansell as best man.
The June wedding honored Beatrice Eileen Robinegato and David Lorne Wright. Rev H S Bowman officiated at the bride’s home ceremony with music by Muriel Robinson. The couple plans a motor trip to Dublin and then to Isabella, after which they reside with friends.
