Miniota Red Cross unit inspection praises drill
The Miniota Red Cross unit sent 14 quilts 4 afghans and other donations by local groups. They traveled to Hamiota on Wednesday evening for inspection by Capt. Jones and Adjt. R. W. Payne at the Provincial Headquarters. The unit showed good uniforms and drill drawing praise. Hamiota and Oak River units also performed well. A remark notes one million mosquitoes was mentioned.

Social dance war honors Canadian forces members
A Friday social dance in honor of Canadian troops drew a good crowd. Guests of honor Hazen Ghalmers Francis Leland and Doug Spalding were addressed by Reeve JR Lypeb. the Canadian Legion welcomed new members. Miss D Stowe presented Francis Leland with a pen and pencil set. In Glenlocher the home of Mr and Mrs Roy Curry burned Thursday noon, destroying the farm residence while the couple were away. No insurance existed and neighbors aided. authorities suspect no deliberate cause. Sympathy and support are offered to the Currys.

The event marked Canada’s pledge to fight for freedom with Britain and to defend all Canadians’ welfare.
