Farm Notes announces a January 29 session on Swine Feeding with Cam Brown livestock nutritionist and Dr Marvin Seale animal science professor from the University of Manitoba. The event to be held at 7 30 PM in the Hamiota Community Room aims to share feeding insights and material from the Outlook Conference booklet.
The Birdtail River School Division No. 38 held a regular meeting January 15 1970 at 4 00 p m in Shoal Lake Trustees Fulton Waddell Rapley Ham es Lewycky Butcher Randell nolman Falloon Armitage and Fouillard were present Correspondence covered Adult Education at Birtle and other school matters The minutes of January 6 1970 were adopted Financial statement 12 69 approved Superintendent report adopted Progress payment No 10 for the Hamiota Collegiate addition to Hoffman Construction Ltd for 1785 00 was approved The board adjourned to meet January 29 1970 at 4 00 p m Time of adjournment 9 15 p m
Mr and Mrs Ivan Sparks celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on January 11 with a family supper attended by 25 people. Relatives from Manson Brandon McConnell Moosehorn gathered, presenting a sum for a chair. A three tier wedding cake was displayed and photos were taken.
The Miniota Beef Calf Club held its second regular meeting on January 8 with thirteen members two leaders and four visitors. They planned a February 7 bonspiel with the Home Economics Club and a February 6 dance with Centennaires music. Calf tagging is set for January 20 weather permitting. Automotive course was introduced by Wendell Wight with Ed Wadham as instructor. Interested ages ten to twenty-one may contact Robert Leland at 562-3605. First meeting scheduled for January 22 at 8:00 p.m. at the Junior High School.
The W I met at Mrs Wes Leland’s home with fifteen members present. Mrs A Armitage presided as reports highlighted slides on Germany and Washington a talk on the new Estate Tax a film Adventure in Maturity demonstrations on Liquid Plastic and gift wrapping and a Manitoba Industries film by Mr Cowan from West Man. Health education and community service events included showers for five brides elects a bake sale for Children’s Aid canvasses for Cancer and Blind donations to the Arthritic Society Miniota Cemetery and Hamiota Hospital allocation. High school pupil aid layette articles for Children’s Aid gifts to Merry Manor Virden Brandon Mental Hospital and Christmas gifts to Brandon Mental Hospital were noted. Scrutineers reported the 1970 directors as A Armitage C Armitage Blaich Collier Dales Goodwin Howard Wes Leland Peel and Stewart with the next meeting planned for February 13 at Mrs C Blaich’s.
Municipal Council of Miniota Manitoba met January 6 1970 with new members Page Stewart D O Stewart and Vernon Lockhart sworn in and taking seats. Reeve Page chaired as seats were filled. Minutes from December 1969 were adopted and numerous letters and appointments discussed for 1970.
