Study Underway of Manitoba Grey Owl
A Manitoba biologist team from Renewable Resources and Transportation Services has trapped and banded great grey owls to map their distribution and movement. Recent sightings cluster around Belair Agassiz and Sandilands provincial forests as Dr Bob Nero notes the ecology remains poorly understood and the season may explain the surge. The owl, North Americas largest, is protected and held aloft by a dense downy feather layer, with a wingspan about five feet comparable to a male golden eagle.

Rolling River board sets 1978 budget in Manitoba district
The Rolling River School Division plans a 4.8 percent rise in expenditures to 4,882,346 for 1978 with a possible 6.5 mill levy. Grants and provincial budget timing will affect the final levy, while enrolment projections through 1982 anticipate a gradual decline. Auditors Buck Campbell and Bardsley were appointed for 1978 and energy-saving measures were approved.
