A Valentine lunch was provided by Mrs Blaich and Mrs Goodwin.

Miniota High School Bonspiel and Basketball Notes
Thirty two rinks competed in the Miniota High School Bonspiel on February 2 and 3. Cliff Olson of Birtle won the Challenge Event with Charlotte Ariss of Beulah second. Richard McKean of Miniota and Mickey Szoradi of Elkhorn were third and fourth. In Consolation, M. Dodds of Kenton took first, Sharon Dagg of Isabella second, Bob Walker of Miniota third, and Cameron Henry of Oak River fourth. Miniota’s basketball teams lost to Virden on January 30 but the Miniota girls lost 36-6 while the boys won 31-24 at the February 12 return. A Miniota rink led by Bob Walker won second prize in Consolation at the Kenton Bonspiel February 9-10. prizes consisted of scarves and gloves.

World Day of Prayer highlights global aid through literature
The World Day of Prayer aims to unite for prayer and support world needs including refugees. Canadian Women grants in 1961 funded Christian Literature Societies in many countries, aiding thousands through braille and non English literature, reaching minority groups and sightless readers. Jacob Webster Pioneer of Two Creeks Dies at 79
Obituary reports Jacob Webster born December 7, 1870 in Levington England died February 1959 at Assiniboine hospital Brandon. He came to Canada in 1888 and farmed in Two Creeks District retiring in 1943 then moved to Virden in 1959. Survived by brother Alex Vancouver and daughter Mrs. Mary Wilson Rothwell. Funeral at St. Mary's Anglican Virden with pallbearers. Interment Bennett Cemetery Harmsworth.

Rural fund appeal remains $1 100 short of the $16 000 goal. Staff attended seminars on Indian integration at Brandon College and Winnipeg Indian Metis Conference, with Riesberry serving as consultant. January statistics show 72 new cases opened, 88 closed, total active caseload 1122, and 20 children admitted this month.
