Cor J.T. Pinklewiners and D. Bells visit Calgary. Beulah and Virden hosts crown winners in multiple Bonspiels with Elva Gilchrist and Margaret Stewart leading in club events. Junior Red Cross fundraises near forty dollars with rink activities and hockey. Meetings at W L and U C W discuss programs and future plans amid weekend visits and hospital updates.
Little Miss Leanne Brown of Birtle visited grandparents Mr and Mrs R E Clegg. Lawrence Wallace spent the weekend with parents Mr and Mrs Sam Wallace. The Messenger s officers for 1962 include President Edward Lelond Vice Barbara Lelond Secretary Valerie Lelond Treasurer Denise Hankin. The 4H Sewing Club curling with Calf Club boys ended with a sock hop at Doug Lelond s. Church closed due to severe storm on February 4.

Oak River twelve and ice hockey defeat Crandall 6 3 while Ressburn High School won 6 0 in Crandall. Crandall school bonspiel drew 22 rinks with winners. Community sympathy extends to Mrs Wallace after the passing of her sister Leslie Evans.

Beulah welcomed a daughter born to Mr and Mrs J Ring land at Rivers Airport on February first. The Hockey Club held a successful dance on Friday February second with Blue Bird Jamboree music from Minnedosa. Beulah High School rink, led by Charlotte Arris, earned second prize in the Miniota Bonspiel. Marvin Pierce is a patient in Birtle Hospital. Ladies Bonspiel began Wednesday with seven rinks. Carol Ann Gies Patsey Sterling and Sonia Derhousoff participated in the 4 H evening at Hamiota. Mr and Mrs R Maduke and Shelly moved Friday to Rivers. Patsey Maduke spent the weekend at home.
Ten lots of grass seed of ten acres each sell after February 21st under a Demonstration Policy to first buyers, priced at 17 dollars per ten acres. Welding course spots remain for day and night sessions in Hamiota March 26 to 30, with fees of 15 and 10 dollars. J J Peters will speak March 8 in Hamiota and Cardale on rapeseed production and market prospects. Calf Scrambles at Brandon Winter Fair accept farm boys aged 14 to 16, with hat-drawn selection and required calf purchase for 1963 exhibit.
The Isabella afternoon unit of the United Church Women met at Mrs. Al Clark’s home on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. J. T. Finkbeiner opened with a hymn and readings compared Philippians and KJV translations. New officers were chosen, and plans for worship, study, outreach, and book purchases were set, including a synopsis on Reinhold von Thadden.
Hon. C. H. Witney announces 4000 acres in western Manitoba leased to Tombill Mines Limited of Toronto for potash deposits beneath a salt cap. The 27,000 acre reservation remains open for exploration, with two six mile apart zones showing 25 to 30 percent K2O in beds six to nine feet thick at depths of 2800 to 3050 feet. Potash mainly used for fertilizers and other industrial applications.
