Explorers Elect Officers and Plan Scout Activities
The Explorer Group elected officers for the half‑year term on Wednesday. Carol Goodwin is Chief Explorer with Beth Armitage as Little Chief and Rev. Bryant Keeper of the Log. They meet weekly in the school basement and work on the Mission Project while advancing toward Tender Foot tests and a scout staff project.

Mrs Gordon Long Speaks at CGIT Meeting on Friendship Diary
Mrs Gordon Long was guest speaker at the CGIT meeting on Wednesday evening for the Mission Study Friendship Diary. She noted the North American Neighbors theme is shared by all church groups and outlined each group's projects. Evelyn Woods and Linda Mossop led the service based on World Day of Prayer for girls. Plans for a March 7 tea and sale were discussed. Mrs F Rowan led recreation with further folk dancing steps learned.

Yarwood Golden Wedding Anniversary Observed Quietly
Mr and Mrs W H Yarwood celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at their Minioota home on February 20. Due to Mrs Yarwood s illness the event is observed quietly. They married in Wigan England on February 20 1909 and immigrated to Canada later joined by their two families.

Andrew Hogg Passes After Heart Attack at Moosomin
Funeral services for Andrew Hogg, 60, who died at his home in Moosomin from a heart attack on Sunday, were held there on Wednesday February 11. He is survived by his widow Zella Cornish of Miniota and one daughter Lois of Vernon British Columbia.

Ratai Couple Honored at Farewell Gathering
Mr and Mrs C Ratai were honored at a community centre farewell on Monday February 9 near Moosomin. Whist winners were Mrs E Spalding and H G Forsyth. A cash gift and floor lamp were presented by Chas Armitage, with best wishes from W A Barrett.

Re Proposal to Form Birdtail River School Division 38
The Minister of Education approves the proposal to establish Birdtail River School Division No 38 under The Public Schools Act. It outlines Ward 1 through Ward 7 districts, trustee counts, and election dates for resident electors with advance polls February 23–25 1959. John Hepworth of Shoal Lake named returning officer for the vote and first trustees election.
