Mrs R Heise reported a letter from a missionary in Korea about a parcel sent by the WMLS. Worlds Day of Prayer planned at Mrs Searth’s home on February 17. Mrs Campbell read a letter from Miss Jessie M Weir nurse at Bricksdale Mission hospital. Mrs Levins spoke on Christian Stewardship. Worship service themed The Unchanging Glory of God led by Mrs J Dage with help from Mrs C Wall and Mrs R T Clark. Mrs R F Heise reviewed early chapters of The Ship under the Cross and linked to early Christian Churches and missionary movement. Tea hosted by Mrs J Dagg and Mrs Al Clark. Mr and Mrs Don Sherwin of Winnipeg weekend guests. Mrs Wall to visit. Mrs Wall returned with them. Mr and Mrs R Scarth spent time in Winnipeg. Marilyn Reid won fourth prize for a piano solo at the 4-H Amateur concert in Hamiton.

Women’s Aid to Hamiota Hospital District 7A Meets
The Women’s Aid to Hamiota Hospital District No 7A held its first 1961 meeting in the Community Room Hamiota on Friday January 27 at 2 30 pm. The president Mrs R O Fraser presided with seventeen districts represented. Miss Dunn reported hospital work and drape updates for the year. Hamiota posted eighteen hours of mending in January. Mrs R C Griffiths read the Manitoba president’s address and Mrs Fraser read Miss C McCloud’s Winnipeg convention address. The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction.

Frank Turner Dies in St Boniface Hospital At 58
Frank Turner, long hospitalized in Winnipeg for most of the past year, died at St Boniface hospital on Wednesday January 25 in his 59th year. Born in Kent England he moved to Canada thirty years ago to farm in the valley district south of Miniota. He married Jean Dunbar in December 1954 and is survived by his wife, a brother Harry Turner of Kent, England, and a sister Mrs J Barnett of Surrey England. Funeral was at Miniota United Church with Rev C A Geddes and Rev Kenneth Moffatt officiating. Burial in Miniota cemetery. Pallbearers were J M Hanlin Ivan Armitage Chris Ellerington Les Horner Chas Bryant and David Feron Vancouver B C

Holy Trinity Church Holds Annual Meeting
The Holy Trinity Church congregation met in the crypt with Rev. W. L. Gedge presiding. W. J. Collier reported for wardens. seven baptisms and one funeral were noted. a Confirmations class is being prepared for presentation to the Bishop on March 12. Vestry and officers were named and plans discussed for a natural gas furnace. Lunch followed.

Mrs. J. Penelton Funeral Held in McAuley
Funeral services were held for Mrs. J. Penelton of McAuley who died January 22. Attending from the district were Robert Penelton George Bruce J E Rowan Neil Jessie D Rowan and L Robinson. The deceased, Lizzie Cameron Penelton, aged 74, left four daughters two sons and a brother Peter Cameron of Willen as survivors.
