Swift Current Visitors and School Closure Dates

Local and General Cor Mrs Roy Lebona rd and Bob Jolley visited Swift Current Saskatchewan. Miniota school closed on December 22 and will reopen January 5 at 9 30 a.m. Armitage is a patient in Hamiota Hospital undergoing diagnostic treatment.

Girls of the C.G.LT. Carolled and Gathered at McCaw Home

Under Mrs. R McCaw and Mrs E Spalding supervision the group went carolling through town on Wednesday evening December 17. They later held a party of games gift exchange and lunch at the McCaw home. The group will meet again January 7.

Christmas Gift Service At United Church Delights Children

A December 14 White Gift service at United Church featured a child procession to a decorated cradle for gifts to Central Mission Winnipeg. Kindergarten, Primary and Junior groups performed finger plays songs and scripture readings. Mrs. H D Armitage narrated the story and gifts will support the United Church Christmas Appeal.

Quiet Winter Wedding in Miniota for Edna Brewington and Watts

In a 3 45 p m December 6 ceremony at the Watts home in Miniota Rev A M Watts united Edna Florence Brewington of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan with Charles Burrell Watts, son of P C Watts. The bride wore a quamarine crystalline dress with matching jacket and coral hat. A buffet lunch followed and the couple plan to reside in Miniota with a Calgary trip. Out of town guests included Mrs Frank Brewington of Moose Jaw and Mr and Mrs Wm Hall and family of Decker.

Children’s Christmas Service at Holy Trinity School

The Holy Trinity Sunday school held its annual Christmas service led by Superintendent J. Mossop. Intermediate girls presented Isaiah prophecy as a schoral reading under Mrs Roy Leland. Ken Sparks and Aston Barkett read the St Luke Nativity. primary class member Mrs M Curry delivered What Does Christmas Mean to Me. The Jun ior choir performed Hail Gladdening Light, a Sir John Stainer setting. A party lunch followed in the crypt, with gifts for the children and filmstrips shown by the W.A.

Lions Club Extends Game No 1 For Early January Ad

The Lions Club extends game No 1 with the third advertisement planned to appear in the week of January 4, 1959. Duration depends on when bingo is called, possibly the third or fourth week. Tickets available at Barrett's Store and Murphy's Cafe.

Mrs G Long presided the Christmas meeting of WA WMS held at her home on December 18. Mrs J Stowe and Mr F Tennant led the Christi worship service. Mrs F Row reported UNESCO work in Mexico and Mrs A M Watts gave commentary. Mrs Rowan reported the nomination committee, lunch served by Mr D J Forsyth Mrs O L Patterson and Mrs W Jolley.

Grace Elizabeth Cameron became the bride of William John Oliver in a double ring ceremony at the Protestant Chapel MacDonald Air Station. Flight Lieutenant Holloway conducted the service as Mrs Holloway played music.
