District Happenings from Cor Mrs John Wiggins

Mrs Tom Stevens and Lorne of Kenton and Arnold Cowan of Kenville visited Archie Hill's home during the week. Mr Lynch is a patient in Hamiota Hospital. Mrs Hanna of Hamiota spent the weekend at Ford Wiggins and Bob Mitchell homes. Vernon Lockhart and Bob Mitchell families spent weekend in Brandon. Dr McMillan slide show on Indian Mission work in northern Manitoba presented by Mrs Geddes. United Church Calendars for 1962 to be delivered by children this week. Westeland and Mrs Tennant spent Monday in Brandon.

Isabella Visits Relatives in Central Butte Sask

Mrs J T Pinkbetner and Mr R L Stevenson spent the past week with kin at Central Butte Saskatchewan. Mr and Mrs Winston Fulton of Winnipeg stayed over weekend with the Gilchrist family. Mrs Gilchrist joined their return to the city.

Crandall Band Sends Gifts and Craft Projects

The Crandall Mission Band donated toys to the United Church Port Workers in Halifax Nova Scotia and continues making tambourines as a yearly project. They also announce the annual Candle Light Service sponsored by the C.G.I. on Sunday evening December 17. The rink reopened on Saturday December 9. Mrs W Davison and daughter visit relatives in Souris.

Winnipeg families visit over the weekend

Local residents and relatives from Winnipeg Roblin Virden and Neepawa visited over the weekend with many families. New CPR Agent A R McDonald welcomed. Crandall W M S Holds Final 1961 Meeting in Community Theatre

Crandall W M S met December 6 at 2 pm with nine members and seven visitors. Mrs Lewis led prayers. candle-lighting service by Mrs Steen and Mrs Coupe. review of Crandall WMS work 1917 to 1961. reports on Christmas cards, clothing, quilts, and associate members building toward United Church Women. Lunch, farewell WMS cake, and tributes to long-time leaders marked the gathering.

Double Ring Wedding in Virden for Harriet Koch and Allan Case

In St. Paul’s United Church Virden the quiet double ring ceremony took place on November 25 at 3 p m. Harriet Jane Koch daughter of Mr and Mrs M Koch of Virden formerly Miniota wed Allan Case son of Mrs Mary Case of Winnipeg. Officiating was Rev S Walmsley. The bride wore a Caribbean blue silk organza dress with sky blue shawl collar long white gloves and a blue hat. Bridesmaid Catherine Koch wore powder blue organza with a pink carnation corsage. Groom attended by his brother William Case of Winnipeg. Out of town guests included Duane Studer Norman Leland Gary Case William Case Mary Case Kathy Doug Collier Joe Greggor Ian and Tena Japko.

Motions include receiving files paying Financial Statement 1961 61 placing Home and School use at Strathclair Collegiate and calling tenders for fuel oil and bus routes.
