Centennial Caravan to Stop in Manitoba Area

The Centennial Confederation Caravan will visit 54 centres across Manitoba from May to November 1967, touring eight Canadian regions to spread the Centennial message. It will travel with eight semi trailer units and tractors, staffed by 28, setting up on fairgrounds or school yards with regional displays and local celebration facilities. A river bed display will show a canoe suspended above visitors in one trailer.

Senior Citizens Plan 1966 Trip Overseas

Senior Citizens in Saskatchewan and Manitoba plan two 1966 overseas tours to Glasgow and Liverpool aboard Empress of England and Empress of Canada. Departures from Montreal April 15 and April 22, returning July 4, with bookings via Nathan W. Medd and the Senior Citizens Federation.

Birdtail River School Board Holds Regular Meeting

Birdtail River School Division No. 38 meets at Shoal Lake on November 26 1965 with trustees Selby Fulton Reynolds Randell Rankin and inspector Funk. The board adopts November 9 minutes and receipts, passes By-law 7 1966 and 1965 readings for Strathclair classroom, approves Financial Statement 11 1965, purchases desks, and adjourns to December 7 1965.

Annual Smorgasbord Held by W L Club

The annual Smorgasbord sponsored by the W L club drew a large crowd Friday night with perfect weather. Decorations and tables showcased home cooking candy and handicraft while a fish pond delighted children. A short variety program led by Mrs Stuart Johnson and Mr Hugh Fraser was well received. Fraser served as master of ceremonies. Mrs Dale Still won the raffle with second prize going to Mrs Still.

Mrs Chris Elerington broke her wrist last Thursday. Mrs Ron Bryant returned home after a few days in Hamiota Hospital. Bill Armitage goes to Regina for PFRA work for three weeks. Mr and Mrs Bill Gilchrist in Winnipeg with Bill at St Boniface Hospital. Bazaar by Miniota Holy Trinity W A raised 192 58. Ann Armitage Carol Goodwin and Joan Leland of Winnipeg visited. Lois Leland and Rick Barret of Brandon were weekend visitors.

Annual Bazaar and Tea Sponsored by U C W

A large crowd supported the Community Centre bazaar on Friday December 3. Receipts totaled 267.55 with bake table 76.10 handicraft 72.45 and other items including aprons candy fish pond tea table novels remakes and donations. Social committee led by Mrs L Reynolds organized the event.

Blood donor clinic in Miniota aids 167 donors

A Red Cross blood clinic held in Miniota Collegiate Auditorium on Tuesday November 30 registered 187 potential donors with 20 deferred and 167 bottles collected. The operation used 13 staff from Winnipeg plus 24 beds to handle over 300 donors, with many named communities contributing donors.

Crandall Pool Elev Assoc Annual Meet

The Crandall Pool Elev Association held its annual meeting on Monday November 29 at 8 00 p m in the theatre with 18 members and 4 visitors. Auditor Robert Richardson reported a surplus of 4231 86 after all payments. Four members S Coupe L Rudd R Coveney and G Shier were elected to the board for two years. Remaining one year terms go to L Hunkin H Wallace and K Mitchell. H Wallace was re elected president S Coupe vice president and L Hunkin secretary. Lunch followed.

Weekend Visits and Tragic Injury Noted in Winnipeg and Brandon

Mr and Mrs Chas Finn of Winnipeg visited with Mr and Mrs R E Clegg over the weekend. Sympathy is extended to Mr Lean on the death of his older brother in Wales. Lawrence Wallace remains hospitalized in Brandon with broken pelvic bones after a ditching incident while driving a truck. He is expected to recover. Mr and Mrs Norm Mooney and Donald visited the Lockhart families on Thursday. Anne Kirton spent the weekend with the White family in Kenton. Harvey Maguire and Stewart and Bev Brandon spent the weekend with the Lockharts.

Arrow River U.C.W Meet Annual Meeting Highlights

The Arrow River U C W annual meeting at Mrs. Sutherland's home drew 11 members and 2 visitors. President Mrs. Douglas Leland led the session with final plans for the December 9 bazaar and reports showing steady yearlong activity and broad charitable giving.
