One hundred seventy six women representing four vice president areas of Birtle Presbyterial United Church gather for a rally following a new pattern as part of church activities.
The Holy Trinity W A met at Mrs. Coke Argue's home on December 6 with ten members and Rev. Pilling presiding. They reviewed the year, funded a Spring Bazaar, praised the parish cleanup and painting projects, and funded a foster child in Hong Kong. Officers were elected and future plans included a Sunday School party and Ladies Auxiliary activities.
Members of the Wynona Ladies Club entertained their husbands and preschool children at the Wynona Community Centre on December 1. A bountiful meal was served and candy and oranges were given to all children. Mystery friends exchanged gifts.
Canadian Girls In Training parents attended a Miniota CGLT meeting in the church parlour on December 1 with formal initiation for eight first year girls. A Diane Williams led sing song, lunch by first year members, and Taps to close. December 8 featured worship by Joan Taylor and Donna Lynn Leland. Practice for the December 12 Vesper Service was supervised by Mrs. Larry Gilchrist.
Distact Happenings includes Miss My Paynter visiting Winnipeg this week and Curling Skating ice flooding underway with Lynn Amy caretaker. Twelve Beulah donors attended the Blood Donors Clitic in Miniota last week and Beulah Hall Club thanks contributors. Proceeds were 50 dollars. Mrs Lipscomb recalled Christmas customs and Rev Bowen led a closing prayer after a Christmas lunch prepared by Scota ladies.
The Miniota WI held its December gathering at the Community Centre on Friday December 10 with 45 attendees. Members exchanged gifts for Brandon Hospital for Mental Diseases patients, awarded corsage prizes, and enjoyed a Christmas skit and carols.
The Crandall community announces a vesper service on December 19 at 7 930 P M at the church. Sunday school will be held at 10 30 A M.
The December Crandall U C W meeting drew 17 ladies and four visitors including Rev Bowen. The treasurer noted anniversary gifts totaling 105.50 and executives were urged to file annual reports. A Christmas worship service led by Scotia ladies featured candlelight in a festively decorated parlors room.
Local florist McConnell Bros in Hamiota urges customers to arrange Christmas flowers. Phone contact provided as 9 for ordering and delivery options.
Isabella News reports Mr and Mrs Don Macinnis traveled from Winnipeg to visit Don in Halifax Nova Scotia. Linda Reid spent the weekend with her sister in Winnipeg. Timmie Weber fractured an arm at school last week. First year red stars at Explorer Star Ceremony went to Janice Norrie Arlean Nichol Dorthy Whyman Julie Clark Shelly Stewart and Susan Finkbeiner. Second year blue stars went to Nancy Bell Valerie Clark Beverly Ariss Florence Young and Pat Campbell. Third year gold stars awarded to Joanne Norrie and Glenda Heise. A district group attended A Christmas Carol at Virden Aud Theatre. The play, adapted by Rev S A Walmsley, was produced by Virden Dram atic Society. Mr and Mrs C Nichol Mr and Mrs T Stewart and Mr and Mrs J E Finkbeiner attended a farewell for Mr Cam Brown, who leaves Pool Elevators for the Manitoba University. Isabella Community Rink opened for the winter season.

The curling season opened with a novelty bonspiel of 18 rinks, and the Elementary School Christmas concert is set for December 21 in the Collegiate Auditorium. A Christmas Vesper Service conducted by the CGLT at the Church on Sunday evening December 12 featured Explorer group in the choir. Linda Reid and Diane Harrison led the service with candle lighters Lorne Wright and Wanda Clark. Special music by the choir with Mrs Scarth on organ. Irene Clark and Elva Young collected the offering. Benediction by Rev K Murdock. The church was decorated with spruce and poinsettias. Morning service canceled due to furnace failure. white gifts sent to the Children's Aid Society in Brandon after the event.
