Ben Hanuschak Named Speaker in Manitoba Legislature
Ben Hanuschak M L A for Burrows and Winnipeg School Division teacher was elected Speaker of the 29th Manitoba Legislature on August 14. The 39 year old presides over the chamber, rules on regulations, and settles tie votes. He was born April 29 1930 in Earl Grey Saskatchewan and educated in Winnipeg. He holds LL B and B Ed degrees from Manitoba University. He has led the Manitoba Teachers Society and Winnipeg Teachers Association, and led the Red River Cooperative Association. He married Nadia Stechkewich in August 1953. they have a daughter Nadine. He follows James H Bilton as Swan River MLA and former Speaker.

Mr. William Dick of Brandon visited the Park Residence last week and remains familiar to residents. Edith Foxton will join Suite 28 soon, we wish her happiness. A hymn sing was enjoyed Sunday evening and thanks are given for flowers and vegetables. Various visitors from Regina, Moosomin, Shoal Lake, Piney, Gilenboro, and Winnipeg called or stayed with residents, along with local relatives.
