Centennial Celebrations Brighten Miniota Municipality
The July 31 municipal centennial parade drew about 3000 spectators as eighty two floats showcased local creativity. The Women’s Institutes served 1000 meals, the museum hosted 940 visitors, and a street dance closed the day with music from Russell Band and Carnegie Pipers. Don Callum aided with music, and light rain capped the event.

Wynona Community Holds Centennial Day Celebration
Wynona marked its centennial on July 29 with a decorated grounds, 200 signing the guest book, and gatherings of former teachers and residents from Wynona District and guests from Branden Regina B C California Estevan Swan River Virden Elk Ontario Birtle Bradwardine Winnipeg. Six former teachers participated plus about fifty former students. Entertainment included horseshoes ball races and a peanut scramble for children, followed by supper. A History of Wynona was read by Pete Cameron. A highlight was visits from Mr and Mrs P C Watts of Miniota and Mr and Mrs Bill Watts of Spencer Bridge B C arriving in a 1912 Ford in Centennial costumes. A pair of clowns performed at supper.

Wynona District Decorates Float for Centennial Parade
Wynona district residents decorated a float for the Miniota Centennial Parade on July 31. A Wynona School model was built by men and women, with Ivor Waldie and past student Wendy ent Glen Cameron among honorifics. The float was drawn by a sorrel horse team owned and driven by Murray Peel, a former Wynona student.

The annual W I tour on Friday August 4 featured a 23 member group traveling from Clear Lake to Moon Lake for lunch, then Dauphin for a guided tour including the National Ukrainian Festival with Ukrainian displays and costumes. A visit to a Guernsey Dairy farm showcased milking, processing and ice cream making, followed by a Katherine Lake picnic and a return stop at Clear Lake.

Obituary for Olive Edna Hanlin aged 78 who died July 29 1967 in Belleville Michigan with funeral August 1 1967 at Miniota United Church. Born May 17 1889 in Brown City Michigan she married Alexander Munro Hanlin in 1907. Survived by three sons four daughters and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Hoopers Lake centennial picnic drew 700+ attendees on Sunday July 31 featuring fastball races horseshoes swimming boating and water skiing. Teams came from Gnaton Birtle Miniota Isabella Birdtail Reserve Hooper's Lake and Beulah with Beulah Fastball Club thanking volunteers for July 24 cleanup and urging annual events.
