Mrs Roy Leland and Mrs Roy Leland note show time at the picture show changed to 8 30 p m. Mrs A Gilchrist won the Robin Hood blanket draw at Forsyths Store last week. George McKinnon has completed his second year at Brandon College and is holidaying at home. Miss Pat Hodnett of Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nurses is spending holidays at home. Mr and Mrs M Curry and Brenda will visit Winnipeg this week as Mr Curry attends the M P C Convention. Condolences: Mrs Les Horner was delegate to the Birtle Deanery W A annual meeting at Strathclair on April 23. Mrs W J Collier attended the Manitoba Conference WA of United Church at Dauphin on April 22 23. Mrs G E Goodmanson and Mrs Chas Watts hosted a Bottle Shower for Miss Mary Attwood bride elect of April 25. Seventeen guests attended. Roll Call at CGLT named a hymn and composer. Ann Craig and Wendy Curry led worship. Judy Bryant and Linda Armitage conducted a game. Donations planned for United Church library and Anglican Hymn Book fund. Films on Teen Problems and Family Relationship shown.
The United church W A M S meeting saw Explorers and C G T affiliating new, with Carol Goodwin and Iris Leland leading services. Gifts and life memberships were presented to several members, plus plans for overseas relief, a quilt, a bake sale, and a presbyterial gathering were set. Fifty three attended the tea hour.
Miniota Beef Calf Club met in the school on April 15 with eleven members. John Mitchell was elected secretary, replacing Ed Jolley who left the district. The club decided to take calves to the McConnell Fat Stock Show on June 1.
William John Wiggins died April 15 at Arrow River and was born July 10 1881 in High Bluff Manitoba. Survived by wife Minnie Ford daughters Lorraine and Bernice son Ford ten grandchildren and one great grandchild plus many siblings. Services led by Dr George McMillan with numerous honorary pallbearers and local attendees.
