Coronation Bonfire Prep and St George Day Celebrations

Village to gather old trees for a coronation bonfire on the Wednesday before May 12. Residents are urged to heap gathered materials for easy collection. St George’s Day was honored with a flag flown Friday and a Military Whist drive plus social hosted by the Daughters and Sons of England at their lodge. Winners of the country-flag games were Mrs. T Leland, Mrs. W Tevier, Vernon Leland, and J. Verny (Captain) representing Beleiung. lunch followed.

Summer town picture show opens with full house crowd

First in a series of summer screenings drew a capacity audience with many unable to find seats. The program showcased Manhat tan Love Song in color with clear sound and humor. Dinner for Fight featured a modern kitchen gag and a cartoon. Additional attractions Beeth oven Beeth oven Africa Squawks Venetian Holiday and Beggar's Holiday promised pathos humor and education through the series.

Obituary Mrs George Kerfoot

Martha Mel beluvei Kerfoot wife of dearze Anrog Kerfoot died early Friday morning in Brandon. She was in her 61st year and survived by her husband a son and four brothers. The funeral was held at Minnesota United Church with pallbearers named J J Henderson R Rollins and others.

Fifteen years ago marriage of Wm Copland to Nellie Gosling occurred on April 20 at Cot Johnson's house. A house fire destroyed Johnson's residence. The toss estimated at about 5000. The West bridge over the Assiniboine was broken by ice and the two centre spans floated down to the south bridge.

A house on Wm Howards farm was consumed by flames after overheated pipes caused a fire. The structure occupied by W Tremaine was completely destroyed with no immediate reports of injuries.
