Arbor Day observed May 16 with events and garden plans. bridge cup won by Mrs Chalmers and Mrs Wythe at Daughters of England. News covers church services, weddings, travel, A.Y.P.A. meeting, train service changes, and a fatal Detroit car crash affecting Mrs Conway’s family.
A notice promotes a contest running from April 24 to May 1 offering a chance to win a Genuine Congoleum Gold Seal Rug with no entry fee. The United States Ltd and Miniota are listed among parties, with no obligation to buy.
Community actions outline April and May events in Miniota. A weekly picture show begins April 22 with two showings nightly, featuring Armstrong and Lee in Man Batten Love Song. A dental clinic fund drive was planned and the meeting day will shift to Thursday through August.
Three relief recipients were found to have falsified earnings on their applications. Gross earnings were about 31700. They were removed from relief rolls and potential prosecution may follow. District residents worry about inquiries into farm work relief scheme while tales circulate of people employed for easy money.

Sudbury Tigers defeat North Battleford Beavers 5 to 2 to win the Allan Cup in Calgary. Winnipeg Monarchs crush Copper Clitb Redmen 7 to 0 in Toronto to secure the junior Dominion championship and Abbott Memorial Cup.
Beulah residents are noted with weekend visitors from Reston and Birtle. Mr and Mrs H E Forster spent Sunday in Reston. Miss M MacDonald of Birtle stayed at home. Mrs Hullis is undergoing medical treatment in Winnipeg. Miss Marsland of Regina visits her mother and sister, Mrs Marsland and Mrs Bowman.
Miss Wakefield, who spent the winter in Winnipeg, returns home on Saturday and left Sunday for Foxwarren where she has secured a position in the general store.
The group met Wednesday at Mrs J P Evans home and opened with singing and roll call. Arrangements were made to raise funds for the Dental Clinic and to run a booth with hot water and tea for the Coronation celebration. Mesdames Crockart and Clarke hosted. Mrs Haney contributed on Jewels for the King.
The committee in charge drew up the Coronation day programme planning events starting at 1 30 p m. The schedule outlines the sequence of activities for the afternoon.
The Girls' Softball Club sponsored a Friday night dance featuring the Midnight Revellers of Elkhorn. Prizes included an Old-time waltz won by Dorothy Paynter and Harvey Gibbings, fox trot by Jean Graham and John Davidson, and elimination dance by Fay Armitage and A. B. Kingspot. Bert Hawes held the mantel clock door prize. receipts totaled $55.
