Liquid Embroidery Demonstration At Arrow River Meet

Mrs J Cook of Miniota demonstrated liquid embroidery on pellon broad cloth and linen finished articles at the Arrow River W Z meeting on April 12 at Mrs J Wiggins home. Mrs B Thompson of Miniota added a crochet display of two bedspreads in rose design. appreciation came from Mrs F Watters.

Birdtail River School Board Meeting Minutes April 18 1967 Shoal Lake

Birdtail River School Division No 38 holds a trustees meeting at Shoal Lake on April 18 1967 at 8 pm with Trustees Rankin Stimpson Fulton Selby Rapley Randell Clark and Inspector Funk present. Motions approve minutes of April 7 and 12 and pay Shoal Lake Drama Club mileage for ten participants to the Provincial Drama Festival.

Beulah 4 H Club Plans Peony Planting and Tour

The seventh Beulah 4 H Home Economics meeting in April at Beulah School included pledge, minutes, and treasurer report. A committee of Terry Frazer and Carol Gow will arrange buying and planting twelve peonies in the local cemetery this spring. A donation to the rink was planned. Plans for Achievement Day and a tour were discussed. Celia Hookway and Debbie Morgan gave short reports. Lunch was served and the meeting adjourned.

Birtle Presbyterial U C W Executive Meets in Hamiota

The Birtle Presbyterial United Church Women met in Chumah Hall Hamiota with President Mrs W W Cochran presiding Worship conducted by Mrs James Wareham Basswood Delegates reported on the Manitoba Conference United Church Women annual meeting held at Portage la Prairie March 14 to 16.

Mid Western Minor League Holds 1967 Plans in Strathclair

Representatives met in Strathclair on Sunday April 28 to organize the 1967 Mid Western Minor League play. Binscorth will host the playoff tournament in early July. Officers elected include Bob Brown president Bob Allan vice and Mert Paradine secretary treasurer. Deadline for entries May 8 with regular play to start late May. Teams include 11 and under 13 and under 15 and under and 17 and under as of January 1 while juvenile teams are excluded this year. Trophies awarded at the annual tournament and all area invited to submit entries.

Arrow River UCW Meet Opens With Hymn and Discussion

The UCW met Friday April 14 at Mrs. J Wiggins home. President Mrs D Leland presided and opened with hymn 388. Devotional report on the executive meeting in Hamiota was given by Mrs D Leland. Discussion covered war purpose and the impact on women and children. Secretary Mrs Sutherland urged end May clothing donations. The Manitoba Conference recital and Board of Stewards request were discussed. Benediction followed a social tea.
