District Happenings lists residents and families visiting relatives across towns for Easter. Winnipeg visitors include Coburn Craik Nelson and others. Local trips to Regina Oakville Minnedosa Brandon and Virden are noted with many returned home for the holidays.
Mr and Mrs Thomas Grey of Hamiota and Mrs Hanna visited Mrs R G Mitchell and Mrs Ford Wiggins. Mrs Hanna visited daughters then went to Balcarras Saskatchewan to visit relatives. The Lockharts and family visited the Norm Mooney family at Woodworth. Mrs John Bull of Hamiota visited Mrs Sutherland and many friends offered birthday greetings to Mrs Bull. Arlene Wallace is home for the long weekend. Faye Leland has gone to Winnipeg.
Local and General Miss Gayle Topps visited Napinka on Easter Sunday at the E. C. Line home. Sympathy extended to Mrs. Teal and relatives on the passing of Mrs. Teal on April 11. Various visits, fund donations, and notices from Miniota and surrounding communities including a Family Party April 26, a found money report near Imperial Oil Tanks, and WI meeting activities.
Beulah held its rink club annual supper Saturday followed by a hard time dance with music by the Beulah Orchestra. Prizes for best hard time costumes went to Barbara Mann and Pat Fraser, Francis Steuart and Stan Paynter. Easter weekend plans and local social events are noted, including open house square dancing and trips to Rocanville. A misfortune struck Mrs Thelma Smith with a broken arm at Birtle. Jam boree at Virden urged.
Agricultural specialist Mr. Stevenson urges breeders to buy breeding swine by R.O.P. scores to improve herds and profits. Tested animals indicate carcass quality growth, days to market, and feed efficiency. three breed cross plans should market all progeny from the third cross.
The Sabin oral polio campaign opens April 30 in Virden Health Unit and surrounding municipalities. Clinics run mornings for children and teachers, afternoons for mothers and babies, evenings for adults, with no refusals. Special clinics list dates and sites across Archie, Miniota, Blanchard, Hamiota, Woodworth, Wallace, Sifton, Daly, Albert, Pipestone, Cameron, and parts of Pipestone and Griswold, plus Edward, Arthur, Brenda and Winchester in May.
The Easter Thankoffering meeting of the Isabella U C W was held at Mrs. Al Clark's home on April 8 with a special Group One program including "A Love to Bless All Nations" and "He that Loses his Life." Mrs. Dave Heise led the business session and was named delegate to an Officers Training School in Winnipeg in May. Thirty two members attended along with seven CGLT members. The next general meeting is planned for early June. Nearby visitors and relatives stopped by over the weekend for birthdays and visits, including Mrs. Blair's guests and various families from Arrow River, Roblin, St. Vital, Virden, Kenora, Winnipeg, Regina, and Regina.
Isabella Ariss of Winnipeg spent vacation with her parents Mr and Mrs C Ariss. Miss Marion Wright of Winnipeg and Mr and Mrs Ron Hyndman and son Rick of Brandon visited at the Wright home. Debby Oliman of Regina and Noreen Adams of Brandon visited relatives at Pelly Sask. The Apperly family and Larry Gilchrist sp ent weekends visiting in Pelly and MacGregor. The Coxworth home welcomed Frank Stevens family from Dominion City. Rodney Campbell left for Sioux Lookout Ont to work at the airport. Don Sherwin of Winnipeg joined the Wall family for the holiday weekend.

Esther Emma Hyndman widow of Fred Teal died in Hamiota Hospital on April 11 after a heart condition. Born in Fordwich Ontario, she was the youngest of eleven Hyndman siblings and survived by three sisters in Ontario and Manitoba and Vancouver. She married Fred Teal on November 4 1939 and was remembered for kindness and energy at a large Arrow River United Church service conducted by Rev C Geddes. Pallbearers included Ronald Littlejohn Carson Hyndman Lyle Littlejohn Neil Wallace Grant Hyndman and Billy Wallace. Relatives attended from Winnipeg Oakburn Virden Harriston and cards of sympathy came from several.
