George Dodds RCAF veteran laid to rest at Miniota
The funeral for George Dodds aged 55, who died March 31 in Birtle Hospital, was held April 3 at Birtle United Church. Burial followed in Miniota cemetery with pallbearers from Miniota and Birtle. Dodds served in World War II and was a plumber in Birtle. he is survived by his wife Mary Armitage, a son Jack in Winnipeg, a daughter Margaret, a sister Martha and brothers Lorne and Gordon.

Wynona Ladies Group gathered at the Wynona Community Centre with eight present. They reported sending to Red Cross headquarters items including 10 men shirts 10 boys long pants 10 boys underwear 15 baby nightgowns 15 baby vests 15 baby jackets 2 quilts 12 sweaters and 7 pairs of socks. Mrs Jas Joseph won the Mystery Box. Carol Goodwin performed a recitation and Sharon and Beverley Bowles of Elkhorn gave festival piano numbers in grades HI and VI.
