A Minlata Community Centre meeting noted that the planned show would not take place. Officials cited unspecified reasons and urged attendees to stay informed for future events.
The Miniota Red Cross Bonspiel drew fourteen rinks with Russell Leland as draw master. Robert Bryant Rink won first with 37 points, Larry Walker second with 32, and L W Dales third with 31. Proceeds go to the local Red Cross Society.
At Mrs. Lionel Shust home on April 2, Shoal Lake Roman Catholic and Legion ladies packed over 5,000 envelopes for the Flowers of Hope campaign. The Cosmos flowers symbolize hope for retarded children and reflect the group’s generous work.
A coalition of union leaders economists and educators urges government to provide an adequate income to every citizen regardless of work. Beulah hosts and visits noted as Mr. and Mrs. W. Matthews and children from Transcona spend weekend at J. B. Morgan home. Beulah beat Shoal Lake in Friday and Sunday hockey games and defeated the Beulah Birdtail Indians on Monday. Beulah wins 9-3 over Foxwarren on Wednesday. Beulah U C W met April 1 with Mrs. Chisholm presiding. Candle Light service featured by Mrs. Russell Asselstine. W I and 4H activities reported with slides, handicrafts, and demonstrations. lunch served.
Miniota and Crandall students join 734 learners from 63 high schools for Brandon College Pre College Clinic with tests, course info, campus tours, and guidance on scholarships bursaries and loans. Brandon College will later interpret scores with students and teachers in April and May.
Crandall reports a line of visitors over the long weekend including Mr and Mrs Wm Evans and Allen Smuttell of Winnipeg visiting the Smuttells, holiday guests at C R Lees, and extended visits from the Lee and Dickey families plus Regina and Winnipeg visitors and local residents.
A list of visitors and relatives from Winnipeg Lac du Bonnet Beausejour Brandon and Boissevain gathered with local families over the Easter holidays. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Ray O Conner Mrs J Hazlewood Rev J Maxwell and many more, with several traveling from Winnipeg Chatham Ontario and Brandon for holiday time.
Herbert Arthur Bert Tennant died on Good Friday March 27 1964 in Calgary after a lengthy illness. Born in Arrow River Manitoba he worked 45 years with the CPR retiring 1956. Survived by wife Marion four daughters six grandchildren two brothers and two sisters. Funeral Monday at McInnis and Hollloway Chapel Calgary with interment there.
Local residents report gatherings and visits in Miniota and area. Pat Woods spent the holidays with Betty Ann Andrushuk while Garth Powell visited Winnipeg. Mr and Mrs D Beatty moved to Binscarth. Douglas Tweed visited his grandparents in Miniota.
